PS: Matt, you reveal too much in the previews.

Someone Will DIE! (Probably.)

Thursday, July 20th, 2006

Hey all!
Your president has returned and bears both an apology and a promise. The apology is for the summaries for last week: they don’t… really… exist. Because I didn’t get back until Monday and my schedule’s been full, there’s “pages” on the website where the summaries would usually go, but no more than two or three sentences of disjointed text. Oh well… full features return next week.
But tomorrow! Yes, tomorrow shall be a day of note: Dogtato-kun’s fansubbers will finally lose it and succumb to the urge to translate a vegitanimal’s name in an… ah… easily misinterpreted way (but remember, the show has absolutely not an ounce of perversion in it! honest! gulp); Yugo will discover that all is not well in Russian society, Joze, Tean, and Keel will all be reunited and Joze will try to KILL Aoi; Mayuki will continue her journey into depression while NieA remains oblivious to the point of cruelty (illustrating the thin/nonexistent line between comedy and pain); Miaka will try (and, if I may make one of my In-Fallible Fushigi Yuugi Predictions [an IFFY Prediction], fail) to readjust to life in our world; and Mushishi will cause me to vibrate my eyes wildly and foam at the mouth (of course, it always does that) by examining Spring and Chaos and the problem of forgetfulness.
Be there! You all must be there! Even my sister will be there! So there! Be!
–Matthew

PS: Hopefully downloads will go up tomorrow, assuming that your vice-president is at least partially recovered from having his wisdom teeth pulled. There will be a SPECIAL TREAT in the downloads this week!

Downloads

Friday, July 14th, 2006

Since Matt Fisher is not here this week I dont have the episodes of Mushishi and Tide Line blue yet to upload to the site. However to appease the masses I’ve uploaded the 4th episode of “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya”. The rest of the episodes should be uploaded sometime next week, along with the short episode of Dogtato-kun we missed due to your Vice President being late. -Matthew W

Anime Club Tomorrow–Be There!

Wednesday, July 12th, 2006

Hey all– This is your President reporting in from Connecticut to remind you that there’ll be another great Anime Club meeting tomorrow! I’ve managed to get up some barely-adaquate episode summaries from last week (and even a “Why I Love These Episodes” for Mushishi), so you don’t have to be entirely confused. It’ll be another good one tomorrow: You can try some Karoake on the Dogtato-kun ending song, which you’ll be seeing for the first time; you’ll be starting a new plot arc in Yugo which (your president having previewed the first episode) will be filled with familial intrigue, great Russian beards, cool Russian names, and cooler Russian weather, along with slightly different character designs and a lot less sweating; Tide-Line Blue will explore Joze and Keel’s relationship some more (huzzah!) as we are introduced to a brand-new location and an unexpected character; NieA_7 will take a fantastic turn for the more introspective (it’ll never be, ah, “normal;” but there’ll be no more drugs either) as it gears up for its final, more concentrated run; Miaka will ganbatte! as she makes her big push to get home; and in Mushishi, our first episode will attain into a kind of tragic horror the show has not exhibited before, while the second explores prejudice, loss, and acceptance in a unique and deeply affecting way. I promise that you will never want to hurt a tree again. Look forward to it–I’ll see you next week! –Matthew

No more Webcam

Monday, July 10th, 2006

Unfortunately it seems that having a webcam where Matt F. works is a volition of his privacy, and therefore a violation of the AUP.  So no more watching Matt F. do his work, I guess you will have to find other ways to entertain yourselves.

New downloads available (and some soon to come)

Friday, July 7th, 2006

Well, everyone who missed yesterday has really got to download these episodes–particularly for Ginko’s origin story, since we are entering Mushishi’s “Golden run.” From now until the end of the series there will literally not be a bad–wait, there were NEVER “bad” episodes–less-than-perfect episode in the show. My entire body quivers and raw flames shoot from my fingertips as I contemplate the fact that we are swiftly approaching episode 20, probably the single greatest standalone episode of any anime, ever. (The only remote contenders would be some of the best “Kino’s Journey” episodes.)
Excuse me, I’m hyperventillating just thinking about it. I need to go to the East Coast for a week to cool off. I’ll try to get the episode descriptions up during my trip (no guarantees); you’ll have another great meeting on Thursday. See ya!
PS: Thanks to everyone who uploads recommendations! I’d be joining you, except that every time I think, “I should recommend this series,” it occurs to me that I should just show it during the school year in Anime Club, instead. But then I realized that I can’t show everything, and I have enough stuff I want to show to fill about four years of meetings. So maybe I should just bite the bullet and recommend SOMETHING…

Episode three of “The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumya” is available for download off the Bethel Anime Club website. I will get the other episodes of Mushishi and Tide Line Blue once I get them from Matt, and I’m sure you will all be downloading them due to yesterdays poor attendances! -Matthew W
