I took Matt Fisher’s advice and watched “The Great Happiness Space” about an Osakan host club. The surprises for me were (1) how young the clients were, and (2) what kinds of jobs many of the clients held.
Overall it is a strong reminder of how lost and lonely many people are.
I think I often forget how different my life is because I know Jesus, as compared to the lives of people who don’t know him.

Hey all—
So I was sitting here in my Korean lair when I saw that you were planning on watching “Ouran High School Host Club.” And I thought, “come on, if there was ever a chance to relate Anime Club activities to real Japanese culture, this is it.” So I am strongly recommending that you all hop onto your Netflix accounts (or your friends’ Netflix accounts) and grab the documentary, “The Great Happiness Space,” in order to learn more about the cheerful and light-hearted lifestyle that the anime series references. Don’t worry, the documentary has even more pretty boys than the anime.

I actually just purchased the second volume, so we’ll be able to continue with Gurren Lagan next Saturday. I second the vote to take a peak at Ouran High School Host Club as well.

Okay, so after much emailing, I have the specifics. Our Bethel Buddies presentation is this Thursday from 6-6:45 in AC 246, the science lecture room. There will be approx. 20 people there, 10 students paired to 10 Bethelites. We are going to show the 2nd episode of Princess Tutu and the Hiccup Episode of Azumanga Daioh and chat and answer questions about anime. Everyone is welcome to come, the more people we have from the club, the cooler we will look. I hope to see you all there!
