Happy Halloween!

I hope you guys are all as excited about the Halloween Anime Club party as I am! =^_^= There will be food, drinks, costumes (if you want), and anime! Usual time, usual place.

On the agenda: – Vampire Princess Miyu – Urusei Yatsura – Soul Eater – Death Note (two episodes this time!)

Oh, and, as a little thing to get you guys excited for the holiday, I’m sending you a link of a video I made a few Halloweens ago. I made it using Paint, so it’s not the best quality, but the other Halloween AMV I was going to send out had a spoiler from Death Note ^^; So, anyway, I hope you enjoy:

Hetalia Day!

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Official Website: http://www.hetalia-day.com/

Happy International Hetalia Day (aka United Nations Day)! To help celebrate I’ve included some YouTube videos you might enjoy :)

Fun little Hetalia rip-off of the Baccano opening (also a good way to learn the countries):

A more serious look at international relations, but with hope for the future:

On October 24th, 1945, the Charter of the United Nations was passed, for the purpose of maintaining international peace, and to promote the solving of social, economic, and humanitarian problems. There are currently representatives from 192 nations around the globe. Yes, this day we tip our hats to a fun and loveable anime, but it’s about so much more than fangirls crossplaying and running around. It’s about the coming together of nations into one, world community, where we live in harmony and friendship. On this day, anime fans in almost 30 countries gathered to celebrate this global union. Today we reflect on this idea of community, and consider how we each, as individuals, are a part of this global neighborhood and how we can help show God’s love in our actions and interactions with others. So whether you are American, Canadian, Mexican, Irish, German, French, Japanese, Russian, Brazilian, Kenyan, etc., Jesus love you all the same! Have an awesome International Hetalia (and United Nations) Day!

God Bless, Blythe Atkinson President of the Bethel Anime Club

PS: For those of you with way too much time, or an addiction to YouTube, here are some other good Hetalia videos: + Hetalia rip-off of the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya SOS Brigade Dance: +Another version of the SOS Brigade Dance: +The longest Caramelldansen you will ever see in your life: +Hetalia rip-off of the Azumanga Daioh opening: +The darker side of history and war (be warned; this has blood): +A rather awesome Hetalia cosplay skit (maybe this will give you some ideas for Anime Detour! ;D):

Consensus Is…

Thursday, October 15th, 2009

After reading your responses (those of you that responded), here is what has been decided:

International Hetalia Day (October 24th): We will replace Death Note with four extra episodes of Hetalia. People are welcome to cosplay Hetalia characters (I will be cosplaying as Canada, who won’t show up in the series for a little while, but, seeing as I am Canadian, it fits :3 ) (if you want to know some of the character who have not shown up yet, here are a good portion of them: http://sites.google.com/site/hetaliaindexes/simple-character-introduction), or dress in the clothes of their heritage/nationality/ethnicity/etc. Otherwise club with continue as normal. Halloween (October 31st): Instead of watching our regular series, we will be watching Halloween-related shows (this will probably include Vampire Princess Miyu and Soul Eater, and anything else anyone comes up with). Any show slots that are not replaced will be filled with extra episodes of Death Note, since it sort of has a Halloween-type feel on its own. Costumes are welcome (I might be cosplaying Canada from Hetalia, except I’ll be him for the previous week, so I don’t really know yet…), and bringing candy to share with people is encouraged! I will be bringing in Halloween cookies and possibly drinks (unless some other generous soul would like to pick up the drinks instead) =^_^= That being said, this Saturday, October 17th, we have normal club, so try to come if you can! ;D

I Need Your Input

Friday, October 9th, 2009

So, by the sounds of it, enough of your are going to be here during Fall Break that we’ll hold Anime Club this Saturday.  I may or may not be there, because I’m, once again, confined to my room with the flu.  I didn’t think you could get the flu more than once in a season…but apparently I did.  Either way, Anime Club will run regardless of my attendance, so fear not!

Okay, so, I really, REALLY NEED TO HEAR FROM YOU GUYS.  Last week I asked you guys, via email, what you wanted to do (if anything) for International Hetalia Day (Oct 24) and Halloween (Oct 31), since they both fall on Saturdays.  And, guess what?  Professor Gossett is the only one who gave me a clear response.

So,  unless you guys want to be utterly surprised and have to put up with whatever ideas I come up with, YOU NEED TO EMAIL ME WITH IDEAS.  Do you want to have normal club?  Do you want to do something special?  Do you want to skip club altogether?  TELL ME VIA EMAIL.  I DON’T CARE IF YOU ARE MY ROOMMATES AND YOU SAY YOU’LL TELL ME IN PERSON, BECAUSE NONE OF YOU HAVE SAID ANYTHING YET.

Sorry, I get Caps Lock happy sometimes…

So, to restate it, tell me:

1)      What you want to do for International Hetalia Day (Oct 24)

2)      What you want to do for Halloween (Oct 30)

Ciao!

PASTA!!

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

Hey!

I apologize from my absence last week…I ended up having to go home with the flu ^^;  AHHH, SWINE FLU!!!!  Not really…

During my absence, though, I did hear that the four or five of you that showed up watched the 4th episode of Axis Powers Hetalia…  I feel as though I need to issue an apology ^^;  There is a scene in that episode (the hot spring scene) which is a little less than Bethical…I was planning on skipping over that part, but then, since I wasn’t there, the message didn’t get passed along, and it ended up being shown.  Sorry about that guys ^^;  I promise you that there isn’t much other overly dirty humor in Hetalia, and, when there is, I will give you an advance warning.

On that note, I just found out that October 24th is International Hetalia Day (it’s also, conveniently, the United Nations Day).  The 24th happens to be on a Saturday, so I was wondering if anyone else would want to do something special for Anime Club that day.  We don’t have to…maybe I’m the only one excited about this 8D  I still wanted to put it out there…maybe we could cosplay, or bring food from different countries, or skip one of our other shows in order to watch a few more episodes of Hetalia… *shrugs*  Please email me or talk to me at Anime Club with your opinion (whether it be positive or negative.  I don’t want to do anything that everyone else doesn’t want to do)

Source: http://www.hetalia-day.com/

And, while we’re looking ahead, I may as well point out that Halloween is also on a Saturday night.  How many of you plan on coming to Anime Club?  Personally, I’ll be there, but if no one else is going to show up, we may as well cancel.  Do you guys want to come?  Also, should we do something special for Halloween, or just hold a normal meeting?  I want to hear from you guys!!

Anyway, we’re meeting again this Saturday, regular time/regular place.  Hopefully I’ll see you there!  :D

Au revoir, mes amis!
