Bethel Anime Club

Hey all,

Just a quick reminder, if your planning on attending Anime Detour this spring, be sure to get your registration in tomorrow as this is the last day you can pre-register for $35, after which it raises to $45. Below is the link to the anime detour website where to can register on-line. For those of you who have not gone, I highly recommend going! Myself, Matt F, Blythe, and Dr. Gossett (I think?) will be attending, and each year has been a blast with immensely entertaining programming, cosplay, and anime playing everywhere. I’m sure we’ll be car pooling there, so if you need a ride just let one of us know.

And as we’re all taking a break from our weekly meetings, I’ve uploaded the entire “Tokyo Magnitude 8.0″ series to the Bethel Anime website for direct download, just follow the link below. I haven’t finished the series yet, but so far its been quite good and per Matt F’s recommendation, you should watch it.

The Bethel Anime Club Fall Semester Meetings Saturdays, AC 337, 7:00pm

Merry Christmas everyone! As a treat for anyone who wants to, I’m sending you a list of my favorite AMVs from the past year, that maybe you will enjoy

(Sorry all of the videos are spoilerific…usually the best AMVs are the ones that really capture the feel of the anime, which tends to involve including clips from the entire series)

Also, for any Hetalia fans, here are a few videos from the two video games. One, Gakuen Hetalia, is an official dating sim where the player plays the small island nation of Seychelles and attends the World Academy. The other game, RomaHeta, is a fantasy RPG made by a fan group.

Also on the Hetalia note (sorry, it’s one of the only things that I watch the news regularly for ^^; ), there is a Hetalia movie coming out next year, AND the third season of the anime has just been green-lit! And, although it may just be a rumor, word on the street is that Funimation may be picking up Hetalia in the next few months…

So, ah, yes…see, if you guys actually responded to my emails or attempted to talk to me in person, I would know more about what each of you likes, and then I could talk about the shows you like. I really do want to get to know all of you more, and more about the things you like (maybe we have a few fav anime in common! But we’ll never know…)

On that note, I was thinking about creating an anime-related blog or something. Would anyone be interested in reading that, or contributing? I dunno…I love to write, and rant about anime, and I really do want to talk to you guys more…

I was also thinking about doing a bit of an Academy Awards type thing at the end of the year, where things like “Best Anime”, “Best Male Character”, “Best Female Character”, etc. are awarded, and we’d get to see little clips and stuff. Everyone would vote like, a month or so in advance, so then I would tally up the votes and put some sort of presentation together. I dunno…I think it sounds like a fun idea, but I would NEED YOUR INPUT.

Anyway, I hope you have a merry Christmas, and I’ll see you in January There was talk that the first meeting back would be on January 3rd, but we can’t get back into our dorms until noon of the 4th and, since not everyone lives very close to Bethel, I figured we would just wait until the Saturday after that.
