About the Bethel Anime Club

The Bethel Anime Club is a forum for viewing, appreciating, and sometimes even discussing Japanese animation. Located at Bethel University, Minnesota, we take a Christian perspective on the series and films we watch (and try not to show anything that would make the administration too embarrassed). We’re still a small club but we all like each other and there’s a definite advantage to knowing everyone’s names (as well as their tastes). Within this small group we have a fantastic variety of disciplines and interests–the President (appearing on this website as “Matthew”) is an English Major; the Vice-President (appearing on this website as “wilmat”) is a Biochem Major, our Faculty Liaison (Dr. Gossett) is in the Math and Computer Science department, and our membership has representatives from Physics, Political Science, and Modern World Languages (among others). (To find out more about our officers, go here.)

Actual membership in the Anime Club is technically restricted to students, faculty, staff, and alumni of Bethel University, but we extend a hearty invitation to anyone who wishes to visit us (or even to become a regular attender) from outside the institution. As we are an official Bethel Club, there are hypothetical advantages to becoming a member (the ability to vote on spending and etc.), but as we are an unfunded official Bethel Club, the difference between a “member” and an “attender” is negligible. If you would like to read our somewhat-less-than-entirely-serious constitution you can download it (Word document) here.

Basically, we exist to have fun, watch good anime, enjoy each other’s company, and learn a thing or two about Japanese culture and art along the way.

Generally speaking the Bethel Anime Club meets at 7:00pm every Saturday in AC337 during the school year, and at the same time every Thursday during the summer months.
